Another interesting product innovation but yet to pick up on a grander scale globally is the use of rose flower as ingredients in food and beverage products. In Taiwan, research started as early as 2006 on using organic farming methods to cultivate large-flowered organic roses.

Grand Blossom Grange, a manufacturer that specialises in rose-infused products, uses a red variety of rose with a rich fragrance and fruity aroma. It is highly nutritious and suitable as a food ingredient. Large-flowered organic roses are rich in antioxidants, containing 22 times more total polyphenols than red grapes, 40 times more than white grapes, and 4 times more than green tea powder. They also have health benefits and anti-aging effects.

Yang Tien Te, CEO of Grand Blossom Grange said, “Our roses are grown strictly using organic methods to ensure the purity of the raw material, which is particularly beneficial for beauty treatments. Long-term use can improve physical fitness and help maintain overall health, making it an essential product.”

 

One unique rose-infused product showcased at the Taiwan pavilion is the Rose Jam, of which the ingredients include organic roses, apples, sugar, and organic lemons. No pectin or artificial flavorings are added, making it suitable for long-term consumption, and with enhanced antioxidant benefits. In terms of taste, it almost comes close to the usual fruit jams found on store shelves except for its unique organic aromatic rose taste which sets it apart from others.

Mr Yang added, “The roses and lemons used in our rose jam are organically grown on our farm. The apples are also freshly peeled, pureed, and then mixed together for simmering. No water or artificial additives or preservatives are used in the entire process. It’s a nutritious and healthy choice for the whole family, perfect with yogurt or added to salads.”

The rose jam is packed in a box containing 3 units of 60g bottle packaging. Price for this new product is yet to be determined but it will certainly be a premium product due to the scarcity and difficulty in manufacturing.

 

Rose Jam has not yet entered the ASEAN region, but the opportunities are enormous judging from the large enquiries on this product.

Meanwhile, the company’s organic rose essence had also won Pingtung Top 10 Souvenir Award in 2017, with its precious rose essential oil and the unique aroma of roses. You can dilute it with water in a ratio of 1:50 and then drink the potion to help in falling asleep. Long-term use can also nourish the skin. It is safe and suitable for the whole family.

In Taiwan, the versatility of rose as an ingredient has seen its application in food and beverage products like rose egg rolls, rose tea, as well as in beauty and body care products like rose liquid soap, and rose facial mask.

另一項有趣但尚未在全球大規模流行的產品創新,是將玫瑰花作為食品和飲料產品的成分使用。在台灣,早在2006年便開始研究以有機農法栽培大花有機玫瑰。

大花農場是一家專門生產玫瑰相關產品的製造商,使用一種香氣濃郁且帶有果香的紅色玫瑰品種。這種玫瑰極具營養,適合作為食品原料。大花有機玫瑰抗氧化物質含量豐富,總多酚含量是紅葡萄的22倍,是白葡萄的40倍,是綠茶粉的4倍。此外,玫瑰還具有保健功效與抗老化作用。

大花農場的負責人楊添得表示:「我們的玫瑰全程採用有機栽培方式,確保原料純淨,這對美容保養特別有益。長期使用有助於提升體能並維持整體健康,因此是一種不可或缺的產品。」


 

台灣館展出的一款獨特玫瑰產品是玫瑰果醬,原料包含有機玫瑰、有機蘋果、糖、有機檸檬。不含果膠或人工香料,適合長期食用,並具有增強的抗氧化益處。從口感來說,這款果醬接近市售水果果醬,但獨特的有機芳香玫瑰風味讓它與眾不同。

楊先生補充:「我們玫瑰果醬所用的玫瑰和檸檬皆為自家有機栽種,蘋果也全是新鮮去皮搗碎後熬煮。整個製程不加水,也不添加任何人工添加物或防腐劑。這是一款營養又健康,適合全家人的選擇,搭配優格或沙拉都很棒。」

玫瑰果醬採用一盒三瓶(每瓶60克)的包裝。價格尚未確定,但由於原料稀缺且製作不易,未來勢必定位為高價產品。


 

玫瑰果醬尚未進入東協市場,但從大量詢問可見,未來商機龐大。
